Shannon, Owner & Trainer

My dog training journey started in 2011 when I brought home Yankee at eight weeks old. I had never had a dog before, so I went all in — not the cuddles and chaos, but structure, boundaries, and a kennel routine. I knew he was going to be a big, strong dog, and I wanted to do it right from the start.

About six months in, I signed us up for training classes and dragged my dad along because consistency mattered. I still laugh thinking about the time he asked if Yankee could stay out of the kennel just once because he felt bad for him. Safe to say… things have changed.

In 2013, we added Cinder and raised her the same way. Both dogs were well-behaved, easy to live with, and could go anywhere with us. In 2020, we lost Yankee, and shortly after brought home Cruz and Stella. We started them the same way — structure first.

Not long after, the facility where I had trained my dogs asked if I wanted to work for them. I said yes, and from there, everything grew. I started working with as many dogs as I could, learning hands-on, connecting with other trainers, and continuing my education through seminars and shadow programs.

My dad learned alongside me, and by the end of 2021, we were fully booked for the next year. That allowed him to retire and join me at Twelve18Ten.

I always knew I would own a business someday, but I didn’t expect it to look like this. I’m here because someone gave me a chance, and because clients like you continue to trust me and refer others. I don’t take that lightly.

I began my journey into dog training while working as a 4th grade teacher, spending three years using my school breaks to walk dogs and learn the craft. In June of last year, I stepped away from the classroom to pursue my passion full-time, becoming part of the third location of Twelve18Ten Dog Training.
What I love most about dog training is witnessing the transformation in each dog. With the right structure and guidance, their potential is truly endless. Helping dogs become their best selves—and seeing the freedom and confidence that comes with that—is incredibly rewarding.

My own dogs are a huge part of my journey. Cowboy, my 4-year-old Goldendoodle, was my first dog and the one who opened my eyes to the power of a well-trained companion. While he’s a big fan of sleeping, he also loves adventuring with me and my husband, especially trips to the Glamis Sand Dunes and camping. Cash, my 9-year-old teacup Yorkie, was rehomed to me last year and has flourished with structure and clear boundaries. He enjoys walks and playing fetch. Callie, my 5-year-old Giant Schnauzer, is the newest addition to my pack. She’s a high-drive dog who thrives on mental stimulation and loves long walks, structured play, and joining me on adventures.

After seeing the impact of training through my own dogs and the work Shannon was doing, I knew I wanted to combine my background in education with my passion for dogs. My goal is to help owners build better relationships with their dogs and create lasting, meaningful change.

I believe that successful training starts with understanding each dog as an individual—taking into account their genetics, breed, and natural drives. When clients work with me, I hope they bring the same level of commitment to their dog’s well-being as I do, so together we can help their dog live a more fulfilled and balanced life.
